## What this directory will cover

The Connecticut Kitchen & Bath Guide will index kitchen and bath remodelers across the state. Both rooms sit in the same directory because they are built by the same contractors and fail in the same ways: a wet area, a run of cabinetry, an electrical load, and a schedule that has to hold while a household lives around it.

The directory is planned for September to October 2026. Until it opens, this page sits alongside the rest of our

Connecticut trade directories

to describe what it will cover and how it will be scored, so that nothing about the method arrives as a surprise on launch day. It is published by

True Level Media, an independent Connecticut trade publisher

Listings will describe the usual range of work: custom cabinetry and stock cabinetry, quartz countertops and other surfaces, Schluter-KERDI waterproofing and comparable wet-area systems, and GFCI electrical compliance in both rooms. NKBA membership and the Connecticut Major Contractor license come up in how remodelers describe themselves, and both are things a homeowner can verify independently.

## How remodeling will be scored

Scores will come from public customer reviews, weighing sentiment, star rating, volume, recency, and completeness, with a Bayesian adjustment so a handful of glowing reviews cannot outrank a long record. The method is the same one already running on our live directories, and it is published in full on

how we rank contractors

Remodeling has its own emphasis. A kitchen project is measured in weeks, and the part that matters is the middle of it: whether the schedule stayed honest, how change orders were handled, and what the contractor did when a wall opened up and revealed something nobody had priced. Reviews that describe that middle stretch are weighted more heavily than reviews that only describe the finished room.

### What counts as evidence here

| Signal | Weight in the score | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Public customer reviews | Scored: sentiment, rating, volume, recency, completeness | Anyone can go and check them independently, which is the whole basis of the method |
| Small review samples | Reduced by a Bayesian adjustment | A short run of perfect ratings is not the same evidence as a long record |
| Older reviews | Reduced, because recency is weighed | They describe work the contractor may no longer be doing the same way |
| Payment, advertising, any commercial relationship | None. Never used | The ranking engine has no access to who has paid for anything |

> **What will never be used**
>
> Payment, advertising spend, and any commercial relationship. Rank cannot be bought on a planned directory any more than on a live one.

## Who this directory is for

Kitchen and bath work is the largest discretionary spend most households make on a house they already own, and it is bought once or twice in a lifetime. Nobody gets practiced at it.

That inexperience is what the market is organized around. A homeowner comparing three remodelers has no reference points, no vocabulary for the parts that matter, and no way to tell a firm that runs its trades well from one that subcontracts and hopes. The quotes will not tell them, because a quote describes a plan rather than a track record.

A ranked directory built on public reviews is the closest thing to borrowing the experience of everyone who did it before you. It cannot tell you which design to choose. It can tell you which firms people were still satisfied with when the invoice was settled and the dust was gone.

Contractors are covered separately: listing will be free and can be corrected or removed on request.

## What this page is not

This page names no remodelers, publishes no costs, and collects no project enquiries. When the directory launches, listings will be compiled from public sources and re-checked monthly, and any contractor who wants a correction or a removal can get one for free. That process is set out in

if your business is listed

[/for-contractors/ →](/for-contractors/)

. Before signing anything, it is worth confirming a remodeler’s registration yourself using the state lookup described in

.

Kept current

## Re-checked every month

Listings are re-checked monthly. Scores move as new public reviews arrive and older ones age, and closed businesses come off at the cycle. Nothing sits frozen from launch day.

A directory is published only when there are enough real contractors with enough public review evidence to make a ranking useful. Where that depth floor is not met, we do not publish.

## Connecticut Kitchen & Bath Guide opens Sept–Oct 2026

Nothing is listed yet. This page exists so the coverage and the scoring approach are visible before the directory opens, rather than announced after the fact.

FAQ

## Kitchen & Bath Guide questions

When does the Kitchen & Bath Guide go live? add

It is planned for September to October 2026. Until then this page describes what the directory will cover and how the work will be scored.

Will remodelers be able to pay for a better position? add

No. Rank is built from public customer reviews under the published method, and that does not change when a new directory launches.

Will the directory publish remodeling costs? add

No. Nothing is sold here and no cost tables are published on any of our directories.

Does this page name individual remodelers? add

No. Ranked listings live on the directory's own site once it launches. This page explains the coverage and the method only.

Why might a remodeler I know not appear in the directory? add

A contractor appears once there is enough public review evidence to score them against the published method. A remodeler with little or no public review record cannot be ranked honestly, so they are left out rather than placed arbitrarily.
